What happens on a discovery flight in a Cirrus at Brackett Field?

A discovery flight is your first lesson in the Cirrus SR20. About an hour at Brackett Field in La Verne, with an instructor beside you, and the controls are yours in the air.

A discovery flight is your first lesson in the Cirrus SR20. It takes about an hour at Brackett Field in La Verne. You need no experience, only a photo ID.

Before you fly

Your instructor walks you around the airplane and shows you the CAPS handle, the parachute that lowers the whole airplane to the ground. Every Cirrus has one. Then you set up the panel together before the engine starts.

In the air

After takeoff the controls are yours. You fly out over the foothills, turn, climb and level off, with your instructor beside you and a full set of controls on their side.

Back on the ramp

You get time for your questions and a logbook entry. The flight counts toward your certificate, and there is no sales pitch.
